Tina Guo Bio:
22 year old cellist Tina Guo has appeared as a soloist on classical cello with the San Diego Symphony, as well as with the La Jolla Symphony, the State of Mexico National Symphony, the Palomar Symphony, the Paducah Symphony, the Petrobras Symphony, the Culver City Symphony, the Pueblo Symphony, the Auburn Symphony, the Idylwild Symphony, and the Vancouver Island Symphony. Upcoming concerts include performances of the Elgar Cello Concerto with the University of Southern California Symphony. She will also be performing the Dvorak Concerto with the Auburn Symphony in 2008.
The latest season highlights have included a performance with violinist Midori Goto in Dvorak’s American String Quartet at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Tina also recently gave a classical cello masterclass at Colorado State University, and will be a guest lecturer at UCLA in Spring 2008 on Alternative Styles and Rock/Metal Fusion in String Music. On electric cello, her latest shows have been held at the Playboy Mansion, The Knitting Factory, The Roxy, and The Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood. She has also performed with Josh Groban, Nathan East, Jamie Cullum, and Michael McDonald. Recent rock appearances include a show for the PGA in South Carolina in May 2007. Tina just finished recording with drum prodigy Jacob Armen and also with John Legend. She was also featured on electric cello in an album for the Yamaha SV Quartet Series which will be distributed to music programs in schools nationwide, introducing electric string instruments to the music curriculum in America.
This past summer, Tina toured through Australia, performing in 21 cities on the electric cello. Immediately afterward, she joined the Pegasus Piano Trio on classical cello for an international tour, first performing in France at the Franco-Americaine Rencontre de Musique de la Chambre at the Ch^ateau de la Bretesche in Missillac. The trio continued their tour to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At the Rio XIII International Cello Encounter, Tina also performed the Elgar Concerto with the Petrobras Symphony; the concert was broadcasted on national television. To finish off her summer tour, she did a show with crossover pianist William Joseph on the island of Majorca in Spain for the International Philanthropy Summit.
A published composer, Tina has been awarded first place in the MTNA’s California State Composition Competition for her series of cello duets. They can be found in Davina Music Publications’ chamber music books.
Tina is currently the electric cellist in Progressive Metal bands “Off the Deep End,” and in “Welcome to Euphorium,” an all-girl group consisting of electric cello, electric violin, bass synthesizer, and drums.
